Driving Events

Autocross

An Autocross is a social and competitive event that takes place in a large parking lot where traffic cones outline a course to be driven in the shortest possible time.  Autocrossing is a great way to sharpen your driving skills and explore the limits of your BMW’s handling capabilities in a safe and fun environment.  An autocross school is offered each summer, however new participants are encouraged to join us at any event where experienced autocrossers will help you learn the sport.

See the Autocross video clip below.

Car Control Clinics

Car Control Clinics are driving exercises designed to familiarize students with the handling and braking fundamentals of their cars.  Typical exercises include navigating a traffic cone slalom, braking - both in a straight line and while turning, and a oval shaped wet skid pad.  Attendance at at least one Car Control Clinics is mandatory prior to attending Driving School.  Anyone with a valid drivers license is invited to attend.  Helmet are not required and convertibles are welcome!

See the Car Control Clinic video clip below.

Driving Schools

Driving Schools are an opportunity to drive your car at speed on a track with an instructor and to experience more of the potential of the unique combination of car and driver. You will learn to drive the track smoothly and safely - following "the line".   Timing of laps is prohibited.  This is not a racing school.

Tours/Drives

Tours, also know as drives, are primarily social events in which a group takes a drive on public roads through one of the many scenic routes we are blessed to have in Colorado.  These drives often include a stop somewhere along the way for lunch and socializing.

Ice Gymkhana

Drive your car in an Ice Gymkhana held each January on Georgetown Lake and see how well you can navigate the traffic cone course on ice and snow.  Bring your best snow tires!  Club member Paul Schultz has coordinated this unique event for several years.

Street Survival School

The BMW CCA Foundation has created a one-day school to teach teens how to handle their cars safely. It’s called Street Survival, to reflect its purpose: keeping our kids alive in their everyday driving on the streets and highways. It takes students from any starting point, to knowing how to handle their cars in any situation they can encounter. Teens use the same cars they drive every day, so the skills are applicable immediately. It could save them on the trip home after the event.
